After the opening of Ötkert in 2010 and Doboz in 2011, Trafiq was the new hit for 2012 in Budapest. This high-quality restaurant, bar and club is one of the increasingly popular happening “ruin” enterprises in the city. It is located in a formerly abandoned industrial building dating back to 1886 right next to St. Stephen’s Basilica in the city center. The previously open courtyard is now covered with a glass sliding roof, which can be opened electronically. The interior combines vaulted ceilings, brickwork, wooden floors, attractively illuminated industrial glass behind the bar and bold graphics with red and blue light hues to create an intimate, elegant and dramatic atmosphere. The result is stylish as hell and chic above all.

I bet when you think of a Michelin star rating at a restaurant, you are not instantly inclined to think of rubber tires. It is pretty ironic considering the fact that Michelin publishing the oldest and best-known European hotel and restaurant guide, which awards the Michelin stars, is a tire company. Anyway, that is exactly where the story of the famous Michelin Guide began. The Michelin Guide was first launched in 1900 to encourage road tripping in France and started anonymously reviewing restaurants in 1926 by means of a three-star system, concentrating on the quality, mastery of technique, personality and consistency of the food, not on interior décor, table setting or service quality.

Slipping, sliding and gliding around an open-air rink, hand in hand with your loved one is probably the most romantic thing you can do in winter - at least until you fall over. It has not been different in the last centuries. My grandpa took sight of my grandma dancing on ice in Városligeti Műjégpálya (City Park Ice Rink) in the 30s of the last century and he fell in love at first sight. He was standing at the edge of the rink for hours and couldn’t take his eyes off my grandma. He was impressed by her talent of doing the Rittberger. He decided to rent a pair of skate and try it. He had absolutely no talent, his windmilling arms ruined his style and suddenly he bumped into my grandma. This is how my grandparents met and stayed together forever.
